Thank you so much for reading my book and for your willingness to share your honest opinion. Your complimentary review copy of The Everyday Family Chore System is below.
As a homeschool mom of eight and foster mom of fifty, I had tried chart after chart, system after system to try to stay on top of the house. Each would last about six months. I realized that the problem wasn’t that our kids couldn’t figure out that they were supposed to tidy the kitchen (or sweep the stairs, or tidy the bathroom)—the problem was that their idea of tidying the kitchen was drastically different than my expectations. Thus the How-to- do-it Cards
system was born!
After years of our using this system with children from ages two or three up to young adults, friends would ask me for copies, then their friends would order as well. Finally I decided it would be simpler to put into a book format some simple instructions for how to implement any home management training system, and then include the actual system we used.
Some moms say, “Sure—it worked for you, but I have five kids under age six. If I do this, I’ll still have to do all the chores myself.”
And I tell them, “You’re right. And if you don’t do this, who’ll be doing the chores? You will, but you won’t be training anyone to come along behind you in a few years!”
While The Everyday Family Chore System is designed to be a stand-alone chore training system, it can also be used in conjunction with other systems by integrating the How-to- Do-It Cards and the training methods.
All learning styles can benefit, since the training methods include reading the card aloud to the child (auditory), letting him read it to himself (visual), and doing the job under your supervision (tactile/kinesthetic). The book also includes ideas for rewards and motivations, as well as organizing your home for success.
I hope it is a blessing to you and your family.
Kind regards,
Vicki Bentley
