The new Bosch Universal Plus has an 800-watt motor and high-efficiency Bosch transmission (more torque for mixing). The Bosch does a great job of mixing and kneading whole grains, while some other mixers burn out their motors/gears in as little as a year when burdened by whole grains. While the classic Bosch Universal already had an amazing average lifespan of 17 years, the new Universal Plus now has a sealed oil transmission that more than doubles the life expectancy of the power train. And the new 800 watt motor is the strongest of any mixer in its class, with a new design that extends motor life expectancy four-fold. Up to 15 pounds of heavy dough can be mixed and kneaded at one time.
The redesigned, streamlined mixer base is only 12″ deep by 15.5″ wide, and is only 10.6″ high with bowl mounted — so it fits easily under cupboards, and we shorter cooks can easily see over the unobstructed, low-profile bowl to watch our creations! Weight with bowl and dough hook is 12.6 lbs.
This mixer handles more than six 2-lb. bread loaves in one batch, yet the Bosch whisks will pick up the smallest quantities thanks to the bowl’s tubular bottom profile (similar to a Bundt cake pan). The Bosch mixer’s 6.5-quart bowl is made of super-tough, easy-to-clean Makrilon and will hold up to 15 lbs of dough!

- The bowl now locks down solidly on the base.
- The bowl’s rim serves as a comfortable and secure handle.
- Quick-release stainless steel drive shaft that comes up through the bottom of the bowl detaches for super-easy cleanup.

Warranty: 3 years on motor and transmission, 1 year on other parts. The Bosch transmission’s 20-year failure rate is less than 1% (And that’s the track record BEFORE they improved the transmission!)

One arm scrapes the bowl shaft, the other scrapes the bowl side. An extra set of scraper blades is included. The Bowl Scraper works with the newer Universal Plus mixer as well as the older Bosch “Classic” mixer from earlier years. $25
